Biography

Dan Angelo Esguerra, also known as G-lo, is a percussionist from Hemet, California. He is currently a student at California State University, Fullerton, where he is pursuing a degree in Music Education. He received an Associates in Arts in Music from Riverside City College (RCC) in Spring of 2024, where he studied under Jason Goodman and Steven Schmidt. G-lo began learning percussion at the age of 12 and attended Chaparral High School, where he served as Front Ensemble Captain from 2020-2022. He has performed with several RCC ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Kevin Mayse, Concert Band under the direction of James Rocillo, Percussion Ensemble, and Marimba Band, performing with guests such as Tom Hooten. In addition to performing, G-lo also teaches and is currently a Front Ensemble Instructor at Chaparral High School and Carlsbad High School.

What inspired you to go into music?

I was inspired to go into music by my middle and high school directors, especially after seeing how they influence so many students' lives doing the things that they love. Additionally, I really enjoy seeing how music can connect and resonate with people, from the perspective of both a listener and a performer.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I like to collect Pokémon cards.

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, drawing, cooking, and watching anime.

What are you most excited for about this 2024-2025 season?

I am really excited about the repertoire and the opportunity to meet new people and perform with friends.
