Biography

Kristopher Allgaier has a lifelong passion for music, having started playing at a young age. His musical journey began with learning songs by ear on a toy saxophone, and at the age of 10, he got his first real saxophone. He quickly fell in love and has been performing on tenor and baritone saxophone in school ensembles, independent wind ensembles, jazz combos, and for his friends and family at gatherings. Currently, Kristopher is pursuing music at Riverside City College, where he is studying various instruments and music styles under Dr. Kevin Mayse and Dr. Jeff Benedict. He attended Vista Murrieta High School, performing in the Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. With long-term aspirations to become a high school music teacher, progress to a college professorship, and ultimately attain a Ph.D. in music education, Kristopher plans to take his time and learn as much as he can about music, performance, and other people while achieving his degrees.

What inspired you to go into music?

So many things inspired me to pursue music, but the person who inspired me the most was my middle school band teacher, Krystin Cowan! She inspired me to make almost every decision I have in music up to this point, including my decision to go into music education! She made my experience learning music fun and made me feel like I can be the best musician in the world if I put in the effort. I want to have the same impact on other people that she did on me.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I play bass guitar in a rock band/for performers who need a bass guitarist.

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

My spare time is still full of music! I’m either listening to music, composing/arranging saxophone ensemble music, or just sitting in a practice room with some backing tracks and jamming to my favorite tunes!

What are you most excited for about this 2024-2025 season?

I’m excited to perform! It’s simple, but I adore being on stage.
