Biography
Starting out as a flutist in 7th grade, Lawrence switched to the oboe after his middle school teacher desperately needed an oboist. Lawrence feel in love with the graceful and elegant sound of the oboe, and eventually switched over to the oboe permanently.
Lawrence attended high school and played oboe in the Symphonic Band and Concert Band. He also performed on the bass guitar for the Advanced and Intermediate Jazz Ensembles while also maintaining a teaching assistant position for the beginning band. The jazz band performed at Disneyland’s Arts Workshop in 2023 playing pieces from The Incredibles and Cinderella.
While a senior in high school, Lawrence played with the Riverside City College Honor Band as principal oboe and english horn, performing pieces such as Angels in the Architecture by Frank Ticheli and Still Water by Elijah Dunton.
What inspired you to go into music?
Great people and amazing experiences in middle school band.
What is an interesting fact about you?
Im a multi-instrumentalist!
What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?
Playing games and taking rides in my car.
What are you most excited for about this 2024-2025 season?
All of the amazing music im going to have the opportunity to play!
